Reuben's prolific career has led to much speculation about the reason for his achievements. Many theories have been presented, but it is not until a member of the paparazzi took this photo that the truth behind Reuben's abilities is revealed.

For over a decade, it was believed that Reuben was a humble Shih Tzu, living quietly in Florida. But, over recent months, those who know him best have seen glimpses of a different side of Reuben. Growing suspicions about his origins led reporters to his childhood home and the people Reuben adopted. The story that emerged was extraordinary.

It was discovered that the people he referred to as mommy and daddy were not his parents at all. In reality, this ordinary couple found him in Minnesota through a "breeder." This "breeder" claimed to have bred Reuben from a pair of Shih Tzus in her possession, but Reuben's people parents never actually saw these doggie "parents."

Once his mommy and daddy brought Reuben home, they discovered that he learned tricks at an extraordinary pace. At first, they simply thought he was a particularly smart dog, but over the years, they began to think that there were other reasons.

Reuben's parents saw the importance of shielding his identity from the public, so they made every effort to keep his abilities a secret. It is only now, when his fame makes it virtually impossible to remain anonymous, that Reuben's true origins are made public.
