Tormented Reuben

Rueby Tuesday by Carlos and Jean Aleman

Reuben's recent paintings, derived from the work of his namesake, Rubens, has led critics to compare the two artists. Reuben's works have been described as being "not bad, for an animal."

The words have left Reuben hurt and confused. He had put his heart and soul into the works, and he felt that they expressed his deepest emotions. The works were not just mere copies of another artist's work, they were a piece of Reuben himself. In his anguish, Reuben was heard to say, "I am NOT an animal!!"

Naptime

Rueby Tuesday by Carlos and Jean Aleman

Reuben was napping one day when he had a horrible dream. In the dream, he was being stalked by an old man who seemed to be everywhere he was. If he was playing, the old man was watching. If he was eating, the old man was standing over him. If he was sleeping, the old man was hovering over him. He could find no escape!

He woke up in a cold sweat and saw that it was his daddy looking at him. Reuben was so relieved that he composed a little poem:

Now that my naptime is done,
Daddy and I can have some fun!

Gathering of Artists

Rueby Tuesday by Carlos and Jean Aleman

In order to expedite his new art career, Reuben decided to host a gathering of artists from around the world. He wrote to many of the most famous European painters and invited them to his humble cabin for a week of discussion. To make these men feel at home, Reuben decorated his cabin in the style of the Renaissance.

Reuben's fellow artists were most impressed with Reuben's efforts to create an atmosphere condusive to creativity. They agree to support him in his newfound art career. Reuben is so thrilled with their decision that he decides to commemorate the moment with an oil painting.
